Crossroads between Translation Pedagogy, Translanguaging and 21st-Century Education in Digital Environmentss

This monograph presents insights about practices of translation teaching across nations in the Nordic and Baltic regions. By closely examining the repertoire of instructional strategies used by practitioners of language and translation pedagogy, this research contributes to the body of knowledge in the fields of descriptive pedagogy, teacher training and curriculum design as they apply to teaching translation at higher-education level.

Musicology

The Melodic Effect

This musicological analysis offers an account of the sonic properties and features of extreme music subgenres within electric guitar-dominated rock music that allow journalists, listeners & connoisseurs to classify artistic production in these genres as 'melodic'. For this end, three relevant discographic works from the decade of 1990s are explored and compared.

Perglossic Music

Common Core Translation Pedagogy

Music Pedagogy

When a piece of music (whether recorded or not) reaches to a level of global popularity or in other ways, trespassing geographical, cultural & linguistic areas, audiences may help dilute or distort the author's ownership of the piece. Given its circulation and relation to diverse listener crowds, new versions may emerge. Then, the music acquires a 'perglossic' character because it transcends the verbal dimension of lyrics.

Translator education & training has formally existed for over almost a Century now, and instructors & experts have been teaching it in different educational sectors. Although important advances have been made in the domains of applied translation studies, the way translation is to be taught still seems to be an open question.

Important theoretical and practical guidelines for how to teach music do not conform an unexplored field. In fact, early dissertations & treatises exist, in which music theory rigorously guide instruction. However, not all modern syllabi or curricula include innovative electronic instruments in their practice. It is then paramount to explore how updated current lesson plans might be in this respect.
